Here are the most recent healthcare related regulatory developments as published in the New Jersey Register on May 2, 2011:

On May 2, 2011 at 43 N.J.R. 1129, the Department of Human Services published notice of its proposed amendments to its rules governing Medicaid claims payment to require that claims for reimbursement for Medicaid services be submitted electronically except where an attachment to the claim is required.  The proposed amendments to the regulations also provide that Medicaid reimbursement will be paid to providers by direct deposit of funds, rather than payment via a paper check that is mailed to them.  The proposed amendments would also require that providers adjust incorrect payments and overpayments whenever they are discovered.  A provider is required to refund the overpayment if a claim is paid in error within 60 days of receipt, or such later date as the erroneous claims payments are discovered.
